Biography
Kathy Baker is an American actress. Born Katherine Whitton Baker on 8 June 1950 in Midland, Texas, she began her career in theatre, appearing in productions by Sam Shepard at San Francisco's Magic Theatre and winning an Obie Award for her performance in the off-Broadway production of Fool for Love (1983). She made her screen debut in the film The Right Stuff (1983).
Baker is known for her role as Joyce in Edward Scissorhands (1990) and for starring as Dr Jill Brock in the television series Picket Fences (1992–1996), for which she received three Primetime Emmy Awards. Her other film credits include Street Smart (1987), The Cider House Rules (1999), Cold Mountain (2003), 13 Going on 30 (2004), Take Shelter (2011), Saving Mr. Banks (2013) and The Age of Adaline (2015).
