Biography
Kent Shocknek is an American actor and former television news anchor. Born Kent Schoknecht on 2 December 1956 in Berkeley, California, he simplified the spelling of his surname for on-air use. He earned a BA from the University of Southern California.
Shocknek anchored news programmes for decades at Los Angeles stations including KNBC, CBS2 and KCAL9, covering major events and earning eight regional Emmy Awards. After retiring from news, he transitioned to acting, frequently cast as newscasters or authority figures in films and television series.
His credits include Nightcrawler (2014), Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), Fast Five (2011), Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004) and recurring appearances as Guy Ross on NCIS (2004–2024).
