Biography
Laura Checkley is an English actress and comedian. She trained at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, graduating in 2003.
She is known for playing Louise across three series of the BBC Four comedy Detectorists (2014–2022). Other regular television roles include Monica in Action Team (2018), Terri King in the BBC One sitcom King Gary (2018–2021) and Mrs Blocker in the BAFTA-winning drama In My Skin (2018–2021). In 2025 she played Theresa in the second series of Channel 4’s The Change. Film credits include Susan, the floor manager, in Bridget Jones’s Baby (2016) and Maz in Military Wives (2020).
With Victoria Bush she formed the comedy duo Checkley & Bush in 2009. The pair performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and other festivals, and reached the final of the Funny Women Awards in 2011. She has also appeared in guest roles in series including This Country, W1A, Red Dwarf, Brassic and Screw (as Jackie Stokes).
