Biography
Lauren Ambrose is an American actress and singer. Born on 20 February 1978 in New Haven, Connecticut, she trained in voice and opera at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute and began her career with stage work and small television roles, including appearances in Law & Order.
She gained recognition for her performance as Denise Fleming in the film Can't Hardly Wait (1998) and as the lead in Psycho Beach Party (2000). Ambrose achieved wider acclaim for her role as Claire Fisher in the HBO series Six Feet Under (2001–2005), earning two Primetime Emmy Award nominations and two Screen Actors Guild Awards as part of the ensemble. Subsequent credits include Servant (2019–2023) as Dorothy Turner and Yellowjackets (2023–2025) as Van Palmer. She has also performed on Broadway, notably as Eliza Doolittle in a revival of My Fair Lady, and leads the ragtime band Lauren Ambrose and the Leisure Class.
