Biography
Willis Macon McCalman, also credited as Sonny McCalman or Macon McCallman, was an American actor. Born on 30 December 1932 in Memphis, Tennessee, he died there on 29 November 2005. He helped form the Front Street Theatre in Memphis and made his Broadway debut in 1971 in productions including The Last of Mrs. Lincoln, An Enemy of the People and The Playboy of the Western World. His first film role was as Deputy Queen in Deliverance (1972).
McCalman appeared in supporting roles in films such as Smokey and the Bandit (1977), The Falcon and the Snowman (1985) as Larry Rogers, Fried Green Tomatoes (1991) as Prosecutor Percy and Falling Down (1993) as Detective Graham. He also had guest roles in television series including Cheers, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Knight Rider and The Wonder Years. He retired from acting in 1997 after a heart attack and died from complications following a series of strokes.
