Biography
Mario Puzo was an American novelist and screenwriter. He wrote the novel The Godfather (1969) and co-wrote the screenplays for the 1972 film adaptation and its 1974 sequel with director Francis Ford Coppola.
Puzo received Academy Awards for Best Adapted Screenplay for both The Godfather (1972) and The Godfather Part II (1974). He also contributed to the screenplays for Superman (1978) and Superman II (1980).
Earlier in his career, Puzo worked as a civil servant and wrote pulp fiction before achieving commercial success with The Godfather.
