Biography
Mark Tandy is an Irish stage, film and television actor. He was born on 8 February 1957 in Athlone, County Westmeath, and was educated at Winchester College and the University of Bristol Drama Department. He was a member of the National Youth Theatre from 1974 to 1976.
Tandy's first professional theatre engagement was with the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1979, appearing in the original production of The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby. He has since worked at the National Theatre, the Royal Court Theatre, the Old Vic and in the West End. His first television role was as W. B. Yeats for the BBC in 1982. Film credits include Viscount Risley in Maurice (1987), a role in Howards End (1992) and the Ede and Ravenscroft Assistant in The Deep Blue Sea (2011). He played Cecil Beaton in the first two seasons of The Crown (2016–2017).
