Biography
Marylouise Burke is an American actress. She was raised in Steelton, Pennsylvania, attended Lebanon Valley College and earned a master's degree in English literature from the University of Wisconsin. She moved to New York City at the age of 32 to pursue acting, after working as a copy editor and research assistant.
Burke has appeared in numerous stage productions. She won the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Featured Actress in a Play for her performance in Fuddy Meers (1999) and received a nomination for Outstanding Actress in a Play for Kimberly Akimbo (2003). Her Broadway credits include the 2002 revival of Into the Woods and a 2026 Tony Award nomination for The Balusters. She also received the 2014 Obie Award for sustained excellence of performance.
On screen, she is known for roles including Lillian in Meet Joe Black (1998), Miles's Mother in Sideways (2004), Sue Shelby in the series Ozark (2020), and Trixie in Only Murders in the Building (2023). Other film appearances include Mona Lisa Smile (2003) and I Love You Phillip Morris (2010).
