Biography
Matt Villa is an Australian film editor with over thirty years' experience. He has worked on both Australian and international productions, collaborating frequently with director Baz Luhrmann.
Villa edited The Great Gatsby (2013), for which he shared an AACTA Award for Best Editing. He won a second AACTA Award for Predestination (2014) and received an Academy Award nomination, shared with Jonathan Redmond, for Elvis (2022). Other credits include I, Robot (2004, associate editor), Dark City (1998, first assistant editor), Daybreakers (2010), The Lego Batman Movie (2017), The Water Diviner (2014), Winchester (2018), Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway (2021) and Runner (2026).
