Biography
Matthew Beard is an English actor and model. He was born on 25 March 1989 in London and studied English and French literature at the University of York after attending King Ecgbert School in Sheffield.
Beard made his feature film debut in And When Did You Last See Your Father? (2007). He is known for roles in An Education (2009), One Day (2011), The Riot Club (2014), The Imitation Game (2014) and Johnny English Strikes Again (2018). On television he has played Max Liebermann in Vienna Blood (2019–2024) and Alan Lewis in Avenue 5 (2020). He portrayed James Whittaker in The Testament of Ann Lee (2025).
Beard received a Tony Award nomination for his performance in the 2015 West End and Broadway production of Skylight. He also appeared in the 2018 revival of Long Day's Journey into Night.
