Biography
Michael Dante DiMartino is an American animator, producer, writer and director. He was born on 18 July 1974 in Shelburne, Vermont, and graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in animation.
Before creating animated series, DiMartino worked for twelve years at Film Roman, where he directed episodes of King of the Hill (1997), Family Guy (1999) and Mission Hill (1999). With Bryan Konietzko, he co-created Avatar: The Last Airbender (2005) and The Legend of Korra (2012) for Nickelodeon, serving as writer, director and executive producer on both.
DiMartino is co-creator and executive producer of the upcoming series Avatar: Seven Havens (2026). He is co-chief creative officer of Avatar Studios.
