Biography

Mike Medavoy is an American film producer and business executive. Born in Shanghai in 1941, he began his career in the mailroom at Universal Studios and later worked as a talent agent representing clients including Steven Spielberg and Francis Ford Coppola.

He served as head of production at United Artists, co-founded Orion Pictures in 1978, and was chairman of TriStar Pictures from 1990 to 1994. In 1995 he co-founded Phoenix Pictures, where he remains chairman and CEO. Among the films he has produced are Zodiac (2007), Shutter Island (2010), Black Swan (2010) and Holes (2003).
