Biography
Minor Watson (also credited as Minor S. Watson) was an American character actor. Born in Marianna, Arkansas, he attended St John's Northwestern Military Academy and Shurtleff College before beginning his career on stage and in silent films with Essanay Studios in 1913.
He appeared in over 100 films between 1931 and 1956, often as patrician authority figures, and made seventeen Broadway appearances. Among his notable credits are Dead End (1937), Boys Town (1938) as the Bishop, Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942), They Died with Their Boots On (1941), Gentleman Jim (1942), Woman of the Year (1942), The Thin Man Goes Home (1944) and Trapeze (1956). He was married to Elinor Hewitt from 1919 until his death.
