Biography
Miroslav Ondříček (4 November 1934 – 28 March 2015) was a Czech cinematographer. Born in Prague, he studied filmmaking at the Barrandov Studio Training School and began his career during the Czech New Wave, working initially on films by Miloš Forman.
He collaborated extensively with Forman on features including Hair (1979), Ragtime (1981) and Amadeus (1984), and with British director Lindsay Anderson on The White Bus (1967), if.... (1968) and O Lucky Man! (1973). His other credits include Silkwood (1983), Awakenings (1990) and A League of Their Own (1992). He received Academy Award nominations for cinematography on Ragtime and Amadeus, and won a BAFTA for the latter. Ondříček was the father of film director David Ondříček.
