Biography
Mitsuo Iso is a Japanese animator, director and screenwriter. Born in 1966 in Aichi, he began working as a freelance animator in the mid-1980s and has contributed key animation to numerous films and series, including Ghost in the Shell (1995), Perfect Blue (1998), Porco Rosso (1992) and Cowboy Bebop: The Movie (2001). He is also credited with visual effects work on titles such as Blood: The Last Vampire (2000).
Iso wrote the screenplay for episode 13 of the television series Neon Genesis Evangelion (1995) and provided additional uncredited contributions to its storyline and settings. He later created, directed and wrote the screenplay for the 2007 series Dennō Coil, for which he received the Nihon SF Taishō Award and the Seiun Award. He has worked under aliases including Mikio Odagawa and is associated with the website IMAGO-IMAGE.
