Biography
Molly Hughes is a production designer and art director. She earned an MFA in set design from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and began her career in New York’s Off-Broadway theatre scene before moving into feature films.
Early film work included serving as a draughtsman on several Harry Potter films and as art director on Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009) and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Parts 1 and 2 (2010–2011). She was also art director on War Horse (2011) and supervising art director on The Bourne Legacy (2012). As production designer her credits include The Fault in Our Stars (2014), The One and Only Ivan (2020), Hillbilly Elegy (2020), I’m Thinking of Ending Things (2020), The New Mutants (2020), Ava (2020), Thirteen Lives (2022), The Beanie Bubble (2023) and Pain Hustlers (2023).
Hughes is a native of Wheeling and holds dual UK and US citizenship. She is a co-founder of the Foxfire Film Festival and has received a British Film Designers Guild award for her work on Thirteen Lives.
