Biography
Montgomery Clift was an American actor. Born Edward Montgomery Clift on 17 October 1920 in Omaha, Nebraska, he died on 23 July 1966.
He began his career on Broadway in the mid-1930s. His film debut came in The Search (1948), for which he received an Academy Award nomination. Further nominations followed for A Place in the Sun (1951), From Here to Eternity (1953) and Judgment at Nuremberg (1961). He is also known for roles in Red River (1948), The Heiress (1949), The Young Lions (1958), Suddenly, Last Summer (1959), Wild River (1960) and The Misfits (1961). A serious car accident in 1956 affected his later work.
