Biography

Ned Dennehy is an Irish actor born on 8 December 1965. He began his career in the mid-1990s after working as an architect and graphic artist, initially performing in improvisational comedy and experimental theatre in Dublin.

His first notable screen role was as Mider in the television series The Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog (1998). He gained wider recognition for playing Tommy in the film Tyrannosaur (2011) and has appeared in films including Reign of Fire (2002), Sherlock Holmes (2009), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 (2010) and Robin Hood (2010).

On television, Dennehy is known for his long-running role as Charlie Strong in Peaky Blinders (2013–2022). Other credits include Outlander (2014), Good Omens (2019) and Silo (2023). In 2017 he won an IFTA Award for his performance in An Klondike.
