Biography
Nico Lathouris is an Australian actor and writer. Born in 1944 in Melbourne, he is a second-generation Greek Australian and trained at the National Institute of Dramatic Art.
He appeared in George Miller's Mad Max (1979) as Grease Rat. Lathouris is best known for his roles as George Polides in the film The Heartbreak Kid (1993) and as George Poulos in the television series Heartbreak High (1994). He was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the 1993 Australian Film Institute Awards for the former.
Lathouris co-wrote the screenplays for Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) and Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024), in collaboration with George Miller and Brendan McCarthy. He has also worked as a dramaturg and director, including on Heartbreak High and Police Rescue.
