Biography
Norman Rossington (24 December 1928 – 21 May 1999) was an English actor. Born in Liverpool, he trained at the Bristol Old Vic and began his career in theatre before appearing in television and film from the mid-1950s.
He played Bert in Saturday Night and Sunday Morning (1960) and Norm in the Beatles film A Hard Day's Night (1964). Rossington was a regular in the television series The Army Game as Private Cupcake and appeared in Carry On films including Carry On Sergeant (1958), Carry On Nurse (1959) and Carry On Regardless (1961). Other credits include A Night to Remember (1958), Lawrence of Arabia (1962), The Longest Day (1962) and Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines (1965). He was the only actor to appear in films with both the Beatles and Elvis Presley (Double Trouble, 1967).
Rossington worked extensively in stage musicals, including runs with the National Theatre and Royal Shakespeare Company, and had over 40 screen appearances.
