Biography
Oliver Scholl is a German production designer. Born in Stuttgart in 1964, he studied industrial design at the Hochschule Pforzheim. While a student, he began illustrating for the German science-fiction series Perry Rhodan. Early development work on Roland Emmerich’s Stargate project led to his transition into film.
Scholl relocated to Los Angeles in 1991. His first American production-design credit was on Independence Day (1996), which he co-designed with Patrick Tatopoulos. He has since worked on numerous large-scale Hollywood features, particularly in the science-fiction and action genres, including Godzilla (1998), The Time Machine (2002), Jumper (2008), The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2015), Suicide Squad (2016), Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Edge of Tomorrow (2014) and Venom (2018). He also served as production designer on the series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew (2024).
