Biography
Pasquale Festa Campanile (28 July 1927 – 25 February 1986) was an Italian screenwriter, film director and novelist. Born in Melfi, Basilicata, he moved to Rome at a young age and began his career as a writer and literary critic before entering cinema as a screenwriter in the late 1940s.
He contributed to the screenplays for Luchino Visconti's Rocco and His Brothers (1960) and The Leopard (1963), as well as films such as Poor But Beautiful (1957) and The Four Days of Naples (1962). From the 1970s he directed numerous features, often in the commedia all'italiana genre, including Hitch Hike (1977), Soldier of Fortune (1976), Bingo Bongo (1982) and Rich and Poor (1983).
