Biography
Patricia Collinge was an Irish-American actress and writer. She began her stage career in London in 1904 and made her Broadway debut in 1908. She became a noted performer in plays by authors including George Bernard Shaw and Henrik Ibsen.
Her film roles included Birdie Hubbard in The Little Foxes (1941), for which she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress, and Emma Newton in Alfred Hitchcock's Shadow of a Doubt (1943). She also appeared in The Nun's Story (1959) and episodes of Alfred Hitchcock Presents and The Alfred Hitchcock Hour. She contributed uncredited dialogue to Shadow of a Doubt and worked on the screenplay for Hitchcock's Lifeboat (1944).
Collinge died in New York City in 1974.
