Biography
Patrick Galen Dempsey is an American actor and race car driver. Born on 13 January 1966 in Lewiston, Maine, he began his career in the 1980s with leading roles in films including Can't Buy Me Love (1987) and Loverboy (1989).
Dempsey is best known for portraying neurosurgeon Derek Shepherd in the television series Grey's Anatomy (2005–2022). His other film credits include Scream 3 (2000), Sweet Home Alabama (2002), Enchanted (2007), Made of Honour (2008), Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011) and Bridget Jones's Baby (2016). In 2023 he appeared as Piero Taruffi in Ferrari and as Sheriff Eric Newlon in Thanksgiving.
Dempsey has competed in professional motorsport events including the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Rolex 24 at Daytona. He was named People's Sexiest Man Alive in 2023.
