Biography
Paul Benjamin (4 February 1935 – 28 June 2019) was an American actor. Born in Pelion, South Carolina, he made his film debut as a bartender in Midnight Cowboy (1969). He appeared in Escape from Alcatraz (1979) and gave a notable performance as one of the corner men in Spike Lee’s Do the Right Thing (1989).
On television he had a recurring role as Al Ervin in ER (1994–) and guest appearances in series including Law & Order and The Shield. Later film credits include Hoodlum (1997), The Station Agent (2003) as Henry Styles, and Back in the Day (2005).
