Biography
Paul Reubens (born Paul Rubenfeld) was an American actor and comedian. He was born on 27 August 1952 in Peekskill, New York, and died on 30 July 2023 in Los Angeles.
Reubens joined the Los Angeles improv troupe The Groundlings in the 1970s. He developed the character Pee-wee Herman and first performed it on stage in The Pee-wee Herman Show in 1981. He appeared as Pee-wee in the films Pee-wee's Big Adventure (1985) and Big Top Pee-wee (1988), and starred in the television series Pee-wee's Playhouse (1986–1990).
Reubens provided the voice of Lock in The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993). Other film roles include Penguin's Father in Batman Returns (1992), an FBI agent in Matilda (1996), and Derek Foreal in Blow (2001).
