Biography
Perry Ferguson (13 November 1901 – 27 December 1963) was an American art director and production designer. Born in Fort Worth, Texas, he worked in Hollywood from the mid-1930s until the early 1960s.
He is credited as production designer on The Stranger (1946) and served as art director on films including Citizen Kane (1941), The Best Years of Our Lives (1946), Rope (1948) and The Bishop's Wife (1947). He collaborated with Orson Welles on Citizen Kane and The Stranger.
Ferguson received five Academy Award nominations for Best Art Direction. A photograph of him appears on a 2003 US postage stamp commemorating art direction for Citizen Kane.
