Biography

Pete Kozachik (28 March 1951 – 12 September 2023) was an American cinematographer and visual effects artist. He worked at Industrial Light & Magic and Tippett Studio before specialising in stop-motion animation.

He served as director of photography on The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993), for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Visual Effects. His other credits as director of photography include James and the Giant Peach (1996), Corpse Bride (2005) and Coraline (2009). He collaborated repeatedly with directors Henry Selick and Tim Burton.
