Biography
Peter J. Hammond, also credited as P. J. Hammond or Peter Hammond, is a British screenwriter and novelist born in 1934. He began his television career in the 1960s writing for BBC police dramas including Dixon of Dock Green and Z-Cars, on which he served as script editor from 1969 to 1970. He also wrote for The Sweeney (1975) and The Professionals (1977).
Hammond created the science-fiction series Sapphire & Steel (1979–1982) and the sitcom Lame Ducks (1984). His later credits include numerous episodes of The Bill, several for Midsomer Murders (1997) and two for Torchwood (2006). He published his first novel, Downtimers, in 2018.
