Biography
Peter Saraf is a film, television and theatre producer. He began his career working with director Jonathan Demme on films including Philadelphia (1993), Ulee's Gold (1997), Beloved (1998) and Adaptation. (2002), as well as the documentary Mandela: Son of Africa, Father of a Nation (1996).
In 2004 he co-founded the production company Big Beach with Marc Turtletaub, which he ran for nearly two decades. Its credits include Little Miss Sunshine (2006), Sunshine Cleaning (2008), Everything Is Illuminated (2005), Safety Not Guaranteed (2012), The Kings of Summer (2013), Loving (2016), A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood (2019) and The Farewell (2019). He left the company in 2020.
Saraf has received an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture and multiple Independent Spirit, Producers Guild and Gotham awards. In 2026 he was appointed chair of the undergraduate Film and Television department at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts.
