Biography

Philip Ivey is a New Zealand production designer and art director. Born in Auckland on 12 March 1969, he began working in television as an art director on series including Xena: Warrior Princess.

His feature credits include art direction on The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001), The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002) and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003). As production designer he has worked on District 9 (2009), Elysium (2013), Extraction (2020), Extraction 2 (2023) and Ballerina (2025). He has received six wins and ten nominations for awards, including a BAFTA nomination.
