Biography
Philip M. Jefferies (also credited as Phillip M. Jefferies or Phil Jefferies) was an American art director and production designer. He worked in the film industry from the mid-1950s until the mid-1980s, beginning in art department roles before advancing to art direction and production design on major studio productions.
Jefferies received an Academy Award nomination for Best Art Direction for Tom Sawyer (1973). He is credited as production designer on Grease (1978), An Officer and a Gentleman (1982), Damien: Omen II (1978), The Island of Dr. Moreau (1977), The Cowboys (1972) and Caveman (1981), and as art director on Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969) and The Manchurian Candidate (1962). His brother, Walter M. "Matt" Jefferies, also worked in film and television design.
