Biography
Philippe Carcassonne is a French film producer. Born on 21 February 1955 in Boulogne-Billancourt, he studied law and philosophy before working as a journalist for the film magazine Cinématographe and later as editor-in-chief of Médias. In 1983 he co-authored the film encyclopedia Le cinéma with Claude Beylie.
He began producing films in 1986 and has run the production company Cinéa (stylised Ciné@) since the mid-1980s. Carcassonne frequently produces work by directors including Patrice Leconte, Benoît Jacquot and his wife Anne Fontaine, to whom he has been married since 1994. His credits include Read My Lips (2001), Coco Before Chanel (2009), The Illusionist (2010), Gemma Bovery (2014), The Father (2020) and Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris (2022). He was nominated for an Academy Award and two BAFTA Film Awards for The Father. In 2021 he became a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
