Biography
Pieter Jan Brugge is a Dutch film producer, production manager and director. He graduated from the Netherlands Film and Television Academy in Amsterdam in 1979 and later earned an MFA from the AFI Conservatory after receiving a scholarship from the Dutch Ministry of Cultural Affairs.
Brugge has worked frequently with directors Michael Mann, Edward Zwick and Alan J. Pakula. His producing credits include Heat (1995), The Pelican Brief (1993), The Insider (1999), Miami Vice (2006), Defiance (2008) and Love & Other Drugs (2010). He also served as unit production manager on several of these and other films, including Glory (1989).
In 2004 Brugge directed, produced and wrote the story for The Clearing. He has been an executive producer on the television series Bosch (2014–2021) and Bosch: Legacy (2022–2025). For his work on The Insider he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture.
