Biography
R. D. Call was an American film, television and stage actor. Born Roy Dana Call on 16 February 1950 in Ogden, Utah, he trained at Lee Strasberg’s acting school after moving to Los Angeles in the mid-1970s. His screen career began with guest roles on series such as Barnaby Jones and Trapper John, M.D.
He appeared in numerous films, including Walter Hill’s 48 Hrs. (1982) and Brewster’s Millions (1985), and worked repeatedly with Sean Penn on titles such as At Close Range (1986), Colors (1988), State of Grace (1990), I Am Sam (2001), Babel (2006) and Into the Wild (2007). Other credits include Born on the Fourth of July (1989), Waterworld (1995) as the Enforcer, Murder by Numbers (2002) and Last Man Standing (1996). Call also featured in episodes of The X-Files and Burn Notice. He died on 27 February 2020 in Layton, Utah, aged 70.
