Biography

Richard Alexander, also credited as Dick Alexander, was an American character actor. Born in Dallas, Texas, he appeared in more than 300 films and television episodes between 1921 and 1970, most often in uncredited or supporting roles.

He is known for his performance as Westhus in All Quiet on the Western Front (1930) and as the Prison Cellmate in Modern Times (1936). Alexander also featured in serials including Flash Gordon (1936) as Prince Barin, and played numerous henchmen and tough characters in westerns and other films. In later years he served as an active member of the Screen Actors Guild, representing Hollywood extras.
