Biography

Richard Libertini was an American actor who worked in theatre, film and television. He was born Richard Joseph Libertini on 21 May 1933 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and graduated from Emerson College in Boston. He began his career in revue and improvisational comedy, including with the Second City troupe in Chicago, and made his Broadway debut in Woody Allen's Don't Drink the Water (1966).

Libertini appeared in numerous films, including Days of Heaven (1978), The In-Laws (1979), All of Me (1984), Fletch (1985) and Awakenings (1990), in which he played Sidney. His television credits include episodes of Columbo, Monk, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Supernatural, as well as voice work in animated series. He was married to actress Melinda Dillon from 1963 to 1978. Libertini died on 7 January 2016 in Venice, California.
