Biography

Richard Venture was an American actor. Born Richard Charles Venturella on 12 November 1923 in New Jersey, he died on 19 December 2017 in Chester, Connecticut. He performed in more than eighty films between 1964 and 2001, as well as numerous television series and several Broadway productions.

His film credits include All the President's Men (1976), Being There (1979), Missing (1982), Heartbreak Ridge (1986), Scent of a Woman (1992) as W.R. Slade, Courage Under Fire (1996) and Red Corner (1997). On television he appeared in episodes of Seinfeld, Law & Order, Murder, She Wrote and The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd, and he had a recurring role in the series Street Hawk. Venture made his Broadway debut in Dinosaur Wharf (1951) and later appeared in productions including The Merchant of Venice (1953) and The National Health (1974). He served in the United States Navy during the Second World War.
