Biography
Robert Clatworthy (1911–1992) was an American art director and production designer. He began his career working on B-movies at Paramount and Universal studios before taking on more prominent assignments from the late 1950s.
He contributed art direction to films including Touch of Evil (1958), Psycho (1960), The Parent Trap (1961) and Written on the Wind (1956), and served as production designer on Ship of Fools (1965), Inside Daisy Clover (1965), Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (1967) and Cactus Flower (1969). He also worked on episodes of The Twilight Zone and intermittently with Disney in the 1960s and 1970s.
Clatworthy received an Academy Award for Best Art Direction–Set Decoration (Black-and-White) for Ship of Fools in 1966, along with further Oscar nominations for Psycho, That Touch of Mink (1962), Inside Daisy Clover and Guess Who's Coming to Dinner.
