Biography
Robert Gilbert is a British and American actor. Born in Hammersmith, London, he holds dual citizenship and was raised between England and the United States. He trained at a drama school in Liverpool before beginning his career in London.
He has performed on stage with the Royal Shakespeare Company and in the West End, as well as at Lincoln Center and Shakespeare in the Park in New York. On screen, he is known for roles including Tim in the Channel 4 series Big Boys (2022–2025), Yusuf in Killing Eve (2022), Andrew in Ready Player One (2018), and Angus in The Tragedy of Macbeth (2021). He has also appeared in Red Eye (2024) and provided voice work for Star Trek: Lower Decks (2020).
Gilbert releases music under the name Captain Backfire.
