Biography
Sally Abbott is a British screenwriter, playwright and former theatre producer. She spent eighteen years working in theatre as a producer, young people's director and trainer at venues and organisations including Contact Theatre, English Touring Theatre, Liverpool's Everyman Theatre and the National Association of Youth Theatres. She trained on the BBC Writers Academy with her spec script Camp Fear and subsequently wrote episodes for the BBC continuing dramas Doctors, EastEnders, Casualty and Holby City.
Her television credits include multiple episodes of Call the Midwife and Vera, one episode of Death in Paradise (2019), and she created and wrote for the BBC crime drama The Coroner (2015–2016). She has also contributed to the writing team of the Channel 5 thriller series Missed Call (2026).
Abbott has returned to theatre as a playwright. Her stage works include the monologue Borough Market, One Saturday (2017, co-written with Michael Begley) and Frantic Assembly's I Think We Are Alone (2020).
