Biography
Thaddeus O'Sullivan is an Irish film director, cinematographer and screenwriter. Born in Dublin in 1947, he trained at the Ealing School of Art and the Royal College of Art in London. In the 1970s and 1980s he worked in experimental and independent Irish cinema, co-founding the Spectre Productions collective and serving as cinematographer on films including Anne Devlin (1984) and On the Black Hill (1987).
As a director his feature films include December Bride (1990), Nothing Personal (1995), Ordinary Decent Criminal (2000) and The Miracle Club (2023). He has directed multiple episodes of British television series, among them Vera (2013–2014), Call the Midwife (2014–2015) and Shetland (2016). December Bride received awards including the Special Jury Prize at the 1990 European Film Awards.
