Biography

Sam Restivo is an American film editor. Born on 5 July 1980 in Wharton, Texas, he began his career in editorial roles on features and television before advancing to feature editing.

He is best known for his work with director Ridley Scott, serving as co-editor with Claire Simpson on the historical epics Napoleon (2023) and Gladiator II (2024). Earlier credits with Scott include additional editor on House of Gucci (2021), The Last Duel (2021) and Robin Hood (2018), and assistant editor on Raised by Wolves (2020). Other editing credits include Brake (2012) and the forthcoming The Dog Stars (2026); he has also worked as additional or assistant editor on films such as The Greatest Showman (2017) and A Christmas Carol (2009).
