Biography
Scott Wilson (born William Delano Wilson, 29 March 1942 – 6 October 2018) was an American actor. Born in Thomasville, Georgia, he attended Southern Polytechnic State University to study architecture before dropping out and moving to Los Angeles to pursue acting.
He made his screen debut in In the Heat of the Night (1967) and received early attention for his role as Richard Hickock in In Cold Blood (1967). Wilson appeared in more than 50 films across five decades, including The Great Gatsby (1974), Dead Man Walking (1995) as Chaplain Farley, Pearl Harbor (2001), The Last Samurai (2003) and Monster (2003). He was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor – Motion Picture for The Ninth Configuration (1980).
On television, Wilson played Hershel Greene in the AMC series The Walking Dead (2011–2014, 2018) and had a recurring role as Sam Braun in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
