Biography
Sepideh Moafi is an Iranian-American actress and singer. She was born in September 1985 in a refugee camp in Regensburg, Germany, after her parents fled Iran following the 1979 Islamic Revolution; the family later settled in the United States.
Moafi trained at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and holds an MFA from the University of California, Irvine. She began her screen career with guest roles on series including Blue Bloods (2013) and The Blacklist (2013), and gained recognition for recurring and main roles as Loretta in The Deuce (2017–2019) and Gigi Ghorbani in The L Word: Generation Q (2019–2023).
She has also appeared in Black Bird (2022), The Killing of Two Lovers (2020) and voiced a character in Scavengers Reign (2023). In 2026 she joined the cast of The Pitt as Dr Baran Al-Hashimi, earning a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. Moafi serves as an ambassador for the International Rescue Committee and has supported various human rights initiatives.
