Biography
Shirley Ann Russell was a British costume designer. Born Shirley Ann Kingdon in London on 11 March 1935, she studied fashion at Walthamstow College of Art and the Royal College of Art.
She collaborated on numerous films with her then-husband, director Ken Russell, including Women in Love (1969), The Devils (1971), Tommy (1975) and Valentino (1977). Other credits include Yanks (1979), Reds (1981), Hope and Glory (1987), Gulliver's Travels (1996) and Enigma (2001). She won a BAFTA Film Award for Yanks and received Academy Award nominations for Agatha (1979) and Reds.
Russell died on 4 March 2002.
