Biography
Gemma Jones is an English actress who has worked in theatre, film and television since the early 1960s. She trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and is the daughter of actor Griffith Jones.
Her film roles include Mrs Dashwood in Sense and Sensibility (1995), Bridget's mother in the Bridget Jones series (2001–2025), Madam Pomfrey in three Harry Potter films (2002–2011), Ivy in Rocketman (2019), and Victoria Swan in Wicked Little Letters (2024). On television she has appeared in The Crown, Gentleman Jack and many other series.
In 2015 she won the BAFTA Television Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the BBC film Marvellous (2014).
