Biography
Sidney Clute was an American actor. Born Sidney Richard Clute on 21 April 1916 in Brooklyn, New York, he died on 2 October 1985 in Los Angeles, California.
He was best known for playing Detective Paul La Guardia in the police procedural series Cagney & Lacey (1982–85). He also appeared as Detective Simms in ten episodes of McCloud (1970). Clute guest-starred in numerous television series including Hawaii Five-O, Emergency!, The Rockford Files, All in the Family, Adam-12 and The Mary Tyler Moore Show, and had recurring roles on Lou Grant and Kojak.
His film credits include uncredited parts in The Best Years of Our Lives (1946) and The Big Heat (1953), and roles in ...And Justice for All (1979) and The Big Fix (1978). He received early training in summer stock and moved to Hollywood in the 1950s.
