Biography
Sidney Levin was an American film editor. He worked as an editor and second-unit director from the 1960s to the early 2000s, with credits on more than 30 productions.
Levin edited Martin Scorsese's Mean Streets (1973, credited as Sid Levin) and co-edited Robert Altman's Nashville (1975). He maintained a long collaboration with director Martin Ritt, editing nine of his films including Sounder (1972), Norma Rae (1979), Cross Creek (1983), The River (1984) and Murphy's Romance (1985). Other notable editing credits include The Front (1976), Nuts (1987), Stanley & Iris (1990), He Said, She Said (1991), Guarding Tess (1994) and Larger Than Life (1996). He was nominated for a Primetime Emmy for editing the television film The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman (1974).
Levin was a member of the American Cinema Editors.
