Biography
Sigurjón 'Joni' Sighvatsson is an Icelandic film and television producer. Born in Reykjavík in 1952, he studied literature at the University of Iceland before moving to the United States on a Fulbright Scholarship. He earned an MFA from the University of Southern California and attended the Directors Program at the American Film Institute.
In 1986 he co-founded Propaganda Films with Steve Golin, which became a leading music video and commercial production company before expanding into features. Sighvatsson produced David Lynch's Wild at Heart (1990) and Bernard Rose's Candyman (1992). He left Propaganda in 1994, served as founding president of Lakeshore Entertainment from 1995 to 1998, and is principal of Palomar Pictures. His other credits include Twin Peaks (1990–91), Beverly Hills, 90210 (1990–2000), Arlington Road (1999) and Brothers (2009). In 2026 he received the Raimondo Rezzonico Award at the Locarno Film Festival.
